Our Mission

Budding Leaves is a multimedia company that will transfer your photographs and videos to digital formats for playback on your computer or DVD player.  We can also use your pictures, videos and favorite music to create slide shows to be used at celebrations, given as gifts, serve as memorials or become a digital photo album.  Budding Leaves endeavors to ensure that yesterday’s memories will be continued to be enjoyed tomorrow.

Old Media

As the world becomes more digital, we are left with precious memories in photo albums, on slides and negatives, and on video tape.  Traditionally the way to share your memories with visitors to your home, photographs and home video, have now been replaced with digital forms shown on computer screens and televisions.  Digital formats bring convenience; resulting all too often that the older formats are regulated to a dusty shelf.  These memories are just as treasured and deserve to have a place with your modern media.

New Media

Digital formats also allow easy sharing of your photos and videos outside of your home.  After conversion, photos and videos can be emailed to relatives, or uploaded to sites which allow your friends and relatives to view them at any time.  Budding Leaves can assist you to set up such accounts and will upload your media for you if desired.

Technology does not need to be a barrier for viewing digital formats as a computer nor the internet are necessary to view media you are sharing.  Budding Leaves can create DVDs that will play in a standard DVD player or on a computer that is not connected to the internet.  Additionally, most photo labs now allow submission of orders via the internet, allowing you to send pictures to be developed at the lab down the street from your relative that lives on the other side of the world.

Perhaps most importantly, digitizing your photographs and videos ensures that they are preserved for years to come. We have all seen the damage that time does to slides, negatives and photos. Age slowly eats away the images, the colours fade, and the material becomes brittle. Even the most careful handling results in cracks and creases. It is possible to print a new copy from negatives, but age takes its toll on those also. Digital media suffers no such degradation. It will take many years before the hard drives or DVDs that your memories will be stored on will need replacing; and when replaced the nature of digital media means the new copy will be identical to the initial copy, ensuring that your memories avoid the ravages of age.  You are also free to keep multiple copies to avoid disastrous loss of your media.
